Born from frustration, built with purpose. The story of how one too many cable failures led to the tester the industry actually needed.
The Real Story
I'm not a marketing guy or a corporate executive. I'm a working stagehand who started with IATSE Local 6 in 2022, learned the ropes on shows at Busch Stadium, and became AVIXA CTS certified in 2024.
The idea for CYA Cables came during winter downtime when I wanted to assemble SOCAPEX-style cables. The testing options out there were underwhelming - either too basic or overcomplicated for what we actually need in the field.
"So I built what I wished existed: a straightforward, reliable tester that does exactly what you need it to do, nothing more, nothing less. Founded CYA Cables in 2025 and now pursue it full-time while still working select shows to stay connected to the industry."

2022 - Getting Started
Started working as a stagehand with IATSE Local 6 in spring, cutting my teeth on shows at Busch Stadium and getting hands-on experience with professional AV systems.
Winter 2022-23 - The Idea
During winter downtime, wanted to assemble SOCAPEX-style cables but found available testing options underwhelming. Started sketching what would become the CYA tester.
2024 - Professional Development
Became AVIXA CTS certified, deepening technical knowledge of professional AV systems and cable infrastructure.
2025 - CYA Cables Founded
Launched CYA Cables and began pursuing it full-time, while still working select shows to stay connected to the industry.
